Sunset at the West Pier, with Reggie

Reggie, the Capenza crew member, with a skateboard over a map of Regency Square and the West Pier in Brighton

The crew, 04 of 07.

Reggie grew up around Regency Square, skates everywhere and ends every day the same way: on the seafront, watching the sun drop behind the West Pier. Loud laugh, louder colours, never in a rush to go home.

Who is Reggie?

Reggie grew up around Regency Square and learned to skate on its slopes, much to the neighbours' annoyance.

Every evening ends the same way: board under one arm, down to the seafront to watch the sun drop behind what's left of the West Pier. The number 17 on Reggie's jersey? Ask and you'll get a different story every time.

Loud laugh, louder colours, never in a rush to go home.

Regency Square to the sea, Reggie's way

Regency Square is a grand old square of white Regency houses, open at the bottom to the seafront. Walk down through it and you're right by what's left of the West Pier, the best place in Brighton to watch the sun go down.

Regency Square

Tall white terraces around a sloping green. Reggie learned to skate here, much to the neighbours' annoyance.

The West Pier

Brighton's older pier closed decades ago and only its iron frame still stands in the sea. At sunset it turns into a silhouette, and on winter evenings starlings often swirl around it in huge flocks before they roost.

The seafront

Wide promenade, beach below, nowhere you have to be. Reggie's favourite kind of evening.

The i360

The tall viewing tower on the seafront by the West Pier. You can't miss it, even when you're not looking.

What Reggie wears

Our age beanie in fire red (with 17 on it, obviously), a black heavyweight hoodie and a grey tee for the warmer evenings.

See Reggie's crew page: the full drawing, front and back, and a map of where to find them.
