1. Who we are

Capenza is a brand of Make Chaos Limited ("we", "us"). We are the data controller for the personal data described here, under the UK GDPR (and the EU GDPR where it applies).

2. What we collect

What you give us: name, delivery and billing address, email, phone number, order details, account details, and messages you send us
Payment details are handled by our payment providers (such as Shopify Payments and PayPal). We never see or store your full card number.
What we collect automatically: IP address, device and browser, pages and products you view, items you add to your basket, and cookies (see section 9)
Email activity: whether you open our emails and which links you click
Reviews and photos you send us

3. Why we use it

To take, make and deliver your order, and handle returns (contract)
To answer your messages (contract and legitimate interests)
To prevent fraud, keep accounts and meet tax law (legal obligation and legitimate interests)
To improve our website and products (legitimate interests)
To send marketing emails, including reminders about your basket, checkout or products you viewed, and emails after you buy, if you have signed up (consent, or soft opt-in for customers)

4. Marketing emails

You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in every email. If you haven't opened or clicked our emails or ordered from us for 9 months, we'll ask once whether you want to stay subscribed; if you don't reply, we stop emailing you. We link your browsing to your email only if you're subscribed or have ordered from us. We never sell your data.

5. Who we share it with

Only what each needs:

Shopify (our online shop)
Supabase and Vercel (hosting our order and customer system)
Postmark (sending order and marketing emails)
Google Workspace (our email inbox)
Payment providers (such as Shopify Payments and PayPal)
Royal Mail and other couriers (delivering your order)
Our accountants and professional advisers
The authorities, where the law requires it

6. International transfers

Some providers store data outside the UK. When they do, we rely on UK adequacy decisions, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. How long we keep it

Orders and payments: 6 years (UK tax law)
Marketing data: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. After you unsubscribe we keep your email on a suppression list, only so we never email you marketing again.
Files you send for a personalised order: 2 years after the order

8. Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to how we use it, to take a copy of it, or to withdraw consent. Email shop@capenza.com. We may ask you to prove who you are. We reply within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

9. Cookies

We use cookies needed for the shop and basket to work, and, only with your permission, cookies for analytics and advertising. You can change your choice at any time with the cookie banner (Cookie preferences link in the footer) or your browser settings.
